While encryption is the basis for protection of any messenger, the cryptographic system alone does not solve the problem. And our team, which is virtually obsessed with information security, introduced many interesting solutions into Eleet.
Below are the eight “things” of the product that have a significant impact on your network. Some of these ideas are entirely unique: they are offered only by Eleet Private Messenger. The others may be present in some competitor products (in one form or another), but we will talk about them anyway: because the integrated system, built by Eleet development team, is all that matters.
So, let’s start.
- Forget about binding to a mobile phone
The first and most important one. Today, there are many messengers that claim a high level of security, however… work with such almost always starts with registration via a mobile phone number. Even FireChat, which works through a distributed mesh-network, has this drawback.
In our view, it doesn’t make sense to talk about anonymity anymore. Anyway, you told someone your phone number, and if it fell into the wrong hands, it will be very easy to discover your identity and exact location.
Let’s not forget the trivial way to bypass SMS authorization, which is so popular today: create a duplicate SIM card. Mobile operators can easily do it for someone’s benefit. Yes, the all-too-common “two-factor authentication” with sending code through a text message is nothing near so reliable as many people think.
In either option, it will no longer matter how good encryption is applied, whether passwords are reliable … This is why there is no authentication by phone number in Eleet messenger.
- Eleet is not associated with your personality
This is not a specific application feature, but a common idea that we have consistently implemented – and it naturally flows from the previous item. So, account in Eleet Private Messenger has nothing to do with your real identity. By using our messenger, you do not leave traces, allowing to link the real you with your account in the Eleet information space.
- Create private IDs
Still not sure your account is untraceable? Fair enough: create an additional private ID that has the full functionality of the “primary” one. In this case, all associated data (contacts, logs, content) will be stored separately, and will disappear when you delete the private ID – leaving no trace in the primary account.
- Don’t get “spotted” online
From a variety of pleasant little things: users of our IM have the opportunity to completely hide their online status. No, we don’t mean simply hiding the last logon time – we talk about the full-scale “invisible mode”. Many lack this in social networks, and instant messengers do not always offer a similar feature.
- You can delete everything for real
It’s not such a small issued as it may seem. Most communications tools allow you to remove logs and contacts on their side: but the other parties of the conversations will still have the correspondence and your ID. It is difficult to call such conditions appropriate in terms of information security.
There is no such problem in our application. You can easily remove yourself from the contact list of the other party. The other user will not also have your communication logs, unless you want it. So nobody can, for example, blackmail you using such discrediting correspondence.
- Protect chat with a PIN code
PIN code authentication is not required for every chat, but you can use this feature in case of necessity. Why is it a digital code rather than a “full-fledged” password?
The point is that this is just an extra security provision, rather than a key element to protect the chat you created. A PIN is easy to remember and convenient to enter from any device: as a rule, it is not true for a reliable password.
PIN does not play a key role in information protection, but helps users feel more comfortable.
- Highly sensitive chats
Usually, when it comes to information security, the focus is on external surveillance: illegal intruders, rivals, authorities. But what if you don’t fully trust your dialog partners?
It’s simple: Create an anonymous chat with them by entering any nickname. The people you talk to in this chat will never know your real ID. At the same time, you can make the chat “self-deleting” after a certain time.
- And the most interesting!
Of course, we’ve saved our favourite feature for last. Users of Eleet Private Messenger may set a “PIN code for deletion”. What is it?
From the outside, it seems like you’re typing the regular PIN (like the one described in the sixth item). Regular authentication measure. In fact, on this command Eleet will instantly delete all your data – correspondence, contacts, sent and received materials, etc. And as you already know, by “deletion” our team means a true, untraceable removal: it will not be possible to restore anything.
We will not list the situations in which this feature can be critical: we believe that readers can provide a few options themselves. As the saying goes, “you know what we mean”.
Finally, again: Eleet Private Messenger is created by people for whom anonymity on the Internet, reliable protection of any personal data and virtual personal space act as core values. All the efforts of the development team serve to make Eleet as secure as possible at all levels.
As you can see, we have done much in this direction. And we are going to implement even more.
